Story
In 2022 it will be 10 years since we lost my wonderful brother Adam (can't believe it's been 10 years) So I wanted to do something extra special to celebrate his life and remember him.
Woking hospice took care of him and my family so well and we will be forever grateful for them. So it makes sense to honour his life and raise essential funds for the superb Woking hospice. So in October 2022 I will be running the London Marathon!!!
As you may be aware while Adam was ill with Cancer my back began to give way and in the years following Adams death I went though various medical procedures and was at one point only able to get around with a walking stick. I was then lucky to be able to get a new start with a spinal stimulator which has seen my strength improve. During lockdown I spent alot of time thinking about what Adam would be doing and the crazy videos we would have received from him while cooped up inside. Imagine if he was able to get on tictok. So then I bagan thinking about getting to a point where I could run to see him in a special place close to our family home. So I plugged in my headphones and began listening to musical theatre (which Adam loved) while running at first on a treadmill then worked up to running outside. Eventually I built up enough stamina to be able to run to and up the hill. As I got there Out There from the Hunchback of Notre Dame came on and it was like I could see and hear Adam there with me. He used to love singing and messing about there and it was a great moment. This was when I realised what I had achieved and was proud of my achievement. I continued running and acknowledged the positive impact it has had on my mental and physical health.
Now I just hope that I can continue what I have achived in this past year and hope that I can make Adam proud when I cross the finish line of the London Marathon!
Please help me raise enough money to reach my target so that Woking Hospice can support others like they did Adam and our family 10 years ago.
Thank you
