Story
On August 4, an enormous explosion obliterated the port of Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon. It's reported that at least 200 people have been killed, over 6,000 people injured and 300,000 people have lost their homes. These numbers are likely to continue to rise. The devastation to the city and to the people cannot be understated. The eastern part of Beirut's port has been totally destroyed, and buildings including hospitals across the city have been severely damaged. The British Red Cross is working closely with the Lebanese Red Cross who have been responding to the crisis. The immediate focus is on saving lives and rebuilding the city.
Being half Lebanese, I want to help the Beirut community in this dire situation. My goal is to cycle as much as I can (without any preparation) around lake Geneva which is 176 kms. I am hoping to raise enough funds as possible to make a worthy impact. Any size donation big or small is welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully contribute to this important issue at hand.
- All the best,
Alex.
