Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For some reason even I can't explain I have decided that it might be fun (?!) to walk from London to Cambridge in August this year! Training for this will take around 20 weeks and the walk itself is 100km (approximately 62 miles), starts at Olympic Park in London and finishes in the centre of Cambridge. I hope to complete the walk in around 24 hours (including rest stops), if anyone would like further details of the walk, you can find them at www.london2cambridgechallenge.com.
I am fundraising for the Diabetes Centre at Ipswich Hospital (where I'm a patient) to support some of the great work that they do there. The money I raise here will go towards sending children with diabetes on holiday in Norfolk. This is really really important work as it gives children and their parents really vital support and helps them to understand more about the illness. It also allows children to be able to have fun in a safe environment and feel like they are not alone in dealing with the daily problems caused by this intrusive disease, while allowing their parents a short break from the daily worries of bringing up a child with diabetes.
This is also a personal challenge for me as I want to prove that my diabetes will not stand in the way of my ability to do this challenge, despite the extra issues this will cause!
If you're feeling super generous you can also donate to Chris who is responsible for this mad idea.... He is raising money for St Elizabeth's Hospice which is another great local charity to support. His JustGiving page is here:
