I've been part of the Royal Berkshire Hospital's Radiology department since August as part of my gap year. Over this time I've been lucky enough to meet the huge range of Reading's community who have come through our doors and I've been able to see first hand how much of an impact the Royal Berk's diagnostic services are on patients. Almost everybody in Reading and its surrounding areas will probably require our services at some point in their lives. At present, the demand for imaging out strips our resources. We are a friendly department who already play a massive role in this community but we aren't able to provide everything we wish to because of a lack of equipment. Every day I'm seeing patients who benefit from ultrasound imaging but I know we could expand this services greatly if we had another machine.
