Story
On Friday 19th February we found our mum unconscious in bed. We ran to our grandparents house a few streets away and grandad came straight away. We helped in get mum off the bed and onto the floor so he could give her CPR. We were both really scared, grandad called for an ambulance whilst giving CPR and kept talking to our mum. Our grandma arrived a few minutes later, then our Aunty Shell and Aunty Tash. The paramedics all arrived too and the house was full of strangers, Grandma just sat in the lounge crying with Aunty Shell holding her hand, whilst grandad and Aunty Tash was up stairs with the paramedics trying to wake up our mum. Then Aunty Tash came down and just held us in the kitchen really tight, we knew sort of then, that mum had died, but nobody said anything at that point. They put mum in the ambulance and we followed in Aunty Tash's car, everyone was quiet. We arrived at the hospital, they called grandma and grandad away in to a side room and Aunty Tash stayed with us in the corridor, a few minutes later we were called into the room grandma and grandad were in. Our grandad was holding grandma and Aunty Tash held us in her arms as the doctor told us that our mum had died. Aunty Shell came in and gave us both a huge hug. We both agree we felt numb, we cried as we said goodbye adn hugged our mum for the last time.
Our mum was treated at The Christie when she was 10 years old for a brain tumor, they said she could possibly never have children, but here we are 14 and 13 years later still proof that she proved them wrong.
Our dad left when we were 2 and 3 years old and my mum raised us on her own, we now live with our grandparents and perhaps its no their ideal way of spending their retirement we are both very gratefull that they have taken us on.
Our ride from Lands End to John o Groats will take place during our August school holidays. We will raise money for The Christie Childrens Ward, because they helped to save our mum when she was a little girl and without their efforts we would not be alive today. We want to give them something back.
We miss our mum everyday and although having 3 aunties on hand to give us hugs, it is not the same as having our mum's arms wrapped around us
