This November I will be taking part in the first Spartan Stadion 5K Obstacle race to be held in the UK at Twickenham Stadium. Bringing the adrenaline of a Spartan race to the awesome spectacle of a stadium, Stadion is a 5km, 20-obstacle race in one of the country's most famous stadiums.

I will be doing this in aid of the amazing charity Alex's Wish, a charity set-up to eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an aggressive form of Muscular Dystrophy that affects 1 in every 3,500 boys born and results in progressive muscle wasting. Every single muscle, including the heart and lungs, is destroyed due to a lack of protein.

By the age of 10, boys with Duchenne will be unable to walk unaided and typically become wheelchair-bound. It is also a life-shortening disease and sadly boys affected by Duchenne will only live into their mid-twenties.

There are very few treatments available to help all children at present. And no cure. But by supporting this charity you will be helping towards funding the research into new treatments and medical trials (60+ clinical trials are now taking place thanks to charities like Alex’s Wish).

This generation of boys will either be the last to die or the first to survive.
