Story
Anyone who knows me will know I have never been able to swim, have always had a fear of being in water. 2 years ago I started to learn with the aim of being able to swim by the age of 40yrs!
It has been a fun and challenging couple of years, it's fair to say it doesn't come naturally to me, I spent the first year refusing to let go of either a float or my swimming instructor, I only recently learned how to blow bubbles in the water and still now only doing the 'scooping the ice cream' stroke!
But now I am a little more confident (not particularly elegant) I wanted to put a purpose to this past 2 years effort and have decided to do a sponsored swim, swimming 25 lengths of the pool on Saturday 21st January 2023.
I'm doing this in memory of Natty Gidman, a little boy who tragically lost his battle to a brain tumour earlier this year. Natty was 5 yrs old.
Natty's parents shared Natty's journey with many, capturing the highs and the lows, Natty touched so many people's hearts and thoughts. Natty was an incredibly brave boy. I have so much love and admiration for him and his family.
Natty and his family were supported by many charities and told me how this one in particular helped them when Natty was receiving treatment in Nottingham and have supported the family since.
No family should ever have to go through what Natty's family are going through, but I hope that charities like this can help provide some light even at the darkest of times.
