Story

This year at Newburgh Primary School we're raising money for Warwickshire Young Carers Project, part of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

UPDATE: FIRST HALF COMPLETE - KENILWORTH TICKED OFF IN A P.B. (BY 5 MINS) OF 1:24:24...doing my best! Brum won't be as quick I doubt.......but feel free to pressurise me!

UPDATE #2, 11/10/09: SECOND ONE OVER - that's it for the running but the page is still open. Sub 1:27 (tbc) after starting too far back by far! Lots of human traffic. Still good stuff, and many thanks to all in helping me meet my personal running goal of two sub 1:30  Half Marathons.

LET'S KEEP GOING ON THE £££!! Cheers, Alex

Help me to get the ball rolling and sponsor me as I run Half Marathons on two consecutive weekends; Kenilworth on 4th October and Birmingham on 11th October.

  • About the Project
  • Here in Warwickshire there are many hundreds of young people who help to care for someone.

  • Warwickshire Young Carers' Project is here to help improve the lives of Young Carers across Warwickshire. They aim to support Young Carers in their caring role to relax and take a break and to realise their own dreams.

  • The Project aims to help children to be children and not have to grow up before their time by taking on an adult’s responsibility. They are children for such a short time and an adult forever.

  • Some children help look after someone in their family by:
  • Staying in the house a lot to be there for them.
  • Helping them to get up, get washed or get dressed.
  • Doing lots of the household chores like shopping, cleaning, cooking . . . and maybe looking after younger brothers and sisters as well.

What does the Warwickshire Young Carers' Project offer?

  • Someone to listen to how young carers are feeling, support, and help getting in touch with other services and help getting their point across

Opportunities to meet with other young carers, make new friends, learn new skills and have fun. They do this through regular group activities, workshops, days out and short breaks with time to chat, have a laugh and relax.

Support with educational needs by helping carers to achieve the goals they have in life and to succeed in the things they might be struggling with.

For more information go to http://www.swcss.org.uk/ and click on the link to Young Carers down the left hand side.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Warwickshire Young Carers will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

nb: when you donate it will appear as if it's going to the Princess Royal Trust; it goes via them - as umbrella organisation -  and is then specifically earmarked for Warwickshire Young carers Project

Many thanks for your support.
