Nottinghamshire Hospice - Santa Stroll · 11 December 2011 ·

Our mission is to add life to every day for people in Nottingham who have been told their illness cannot be cured, helping them to live as actively and well as possible. Our care puts our patients and their families at the front of everything we say and do. We are very grateful for your support.

Story

Why are we (Caroline, Alex and Lauren) taking part in the1 mile sponsored Santa Stroll on 11th December for Nottinghamshire Hospice?

Because we love it! And it’s for a great cause.

Last year the atmosphere was amazing.  Alex was in his element... we were right behind Santa in his sleigh and he sang along to the Christmas songs all the way round and just loved waving to all the passersby.  Yes it was a bit chilly as it had been snowing but we were wrapped up warm and had Santa suits on as well. After it had all finished we treated ourselves to some cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows before going home and felt very festive and ready for Christmas!

This year’s Santa Stroll is starting and finishing at the Council House, Old Market Square and Bestwood Welfare Black Diamonds Brass Band will be leading the carol singing before the walk. There’s also an added bonus... we are being joined by a whole load of fit footballers from Notts County who are taking part as well. See www.santastroll.co.uk.

So please sponsor Alex and Lauren on the Santa Stroll so that they can be proud to say they have raised money for a good cause this Christmas.

Why Nottinghamshire Hospice? Yes, I know I am their Website Manager so I am biased, but I also get to see firsthand what a great job the Daycare staff do providing palliative care to people in the last year of their life, and I also know how hard the Fundraising Team, the Lottery team and the Shop Managers work to raise funds to ensure the hospice can continue to provide services to its patients and their carers and families for free.
