Our NGO partner, Alcance Nicaragua proposed this project. The purpose is to guarantee loans to provide food packages to families identified and prioritized in 14 communities served by Alcance, that are affected by COVID-19. The food packages will contain: 25 pounds of beans, 25 pounds of rice, 25 pounds of sugar, 10 liters of oil and a box of soap. The package value is $69.64 US. Families will reimburse 100% of the total cost.
With this package, families will have food and sanitation supplies for one month, and be better able to shelter-in-place in their homes, to prevent COVID-19 infection.
With the loan repayments, the community groups will have capital that will allow them to create a community loans project for agriculture.
