Story
Thank you so much for visiting our fundraising page.
The seven of us have taken up the challenge of completing the Great North Run to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Please will you sponsor us? Any donation big or small would be very much appreciated.
Who we are:
Albert Oliver (aka The Albatross - nearly 70 & likely to put us all to shame), Kathryn Boucher (aka KatyK who is stupidly getting up at 5am to train), Dave Prescott (aka Dave the Fave), Stuart Bell (aka Hooker) Adam Mclellan (aka Forrest Gump), Claire Oliver (aka Coliver) and Jo Gordon (aka Flash Gordon).
After a few drinks this seemed like a fantastic idea, however it’s now a reality and we need your help to raise our target for Macmillan Cancer Support and motivate us all to run those 13 miles.
Why we need your help:
Macmillan were a great support to the Oliver family in February this year, when we very sadly lost our dear mum, Mary Oliver to cancer. Dolly, our Macmillan Nurse, was a tremendous help – not only because she organised many aspects of Mum’s care but she also provided information and emotional support, not only to Mum but the rest of the family too.
Macmillan don’t just fund Nurses, they provide financial support to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, they build cancer care centres, they push for better cancer care and they provide vital information on all aspects of cancer and its treatment. Basically, they’re fantastic.
Where your money goes:
Macmillan are funded by voluntary contributions and without support from people like us, and people like you, they couldn't provide any of their services to help people living with cancer.
The money raised really does make a difference. As well as the many other services that Macmillan provide the money that you give could go towards these examples:
- £143,273 - funds a Macmillan nurse for 3 years, providing emotional and practical help to people affected by cancer and their families.
- £3,333 - keeps a Macmillan cancer information and support centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a year.
- £350 - pays for a convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer.
Please help us raise our target of £3,000 and help Macmillan spend the money where they need it most – dig deep and please help us with whatever you can afford.
Thank you so much for your support. We really appreciate it.
Please think of us on the 18th September.
