Story
11th December 2022 Update
So sad to say that dad has died aged almost 96 - just over 3 weeks away from his birthday. He maintained his efforts to walk every day up until almost the last day - he left this world as himself, and as he would have wanted. We are leaving this page up for a little longer as we know he would be delighted to increase the total raised.
Dads original story:-
Our fantastic 95 year old dad/grandad had a terminal cancer diagnosis in August 2021, and his immediate response was to try and use this to raise money for Macmillan. We are very proud of him indeed. It is now well over a year since his diagnosis and he is still going - though not as strongly as he was - and is still raising funds.
He was walking the full circular Doncaster Lakeside Walk, but is now walking laps of his own garden as he becomes less well. Please give generously for this excellent charity and to encourage him taking these positive steps.
From Alan himself - Following on from the success of our fund raising I would like to continue to enlist the help of all. I intend, as I approach my 96th Birthday, to walk each day and keep raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Driven by a strong belief in these three things
We care for each other
We care for the environment
We know the value of exercise.
Please join the team to help me, to help each other and show the joy of living.
Thank you
****JANUARY 2022 UPDATE****
Just to let all Dads kind contributors know that he is still walking everyday - having just completed a course of radiotherapy at Westpark Cancer Hospital in Sheffield. He was supported to get there and back by the wonderful charity and people at Firefly, and would like to ask that you consider giving them a donation too:-https://www.firefly-support.co.uk/donate Thank you again for all your support from Alan

**** AUGUST 2022 UPDATE ****
Alan is getting less well so you won't see him often at Lakeside these days. However he is still walking in his garden, and is still fundraising for Macmillan and delighted with any further contributions people feel they can make. Thank you.
