Loch Ness Marathon · 7 October 2007 ·

We fund medical equipment and services to give our children the best possible care

Story

On the 7th of October, I will be running the Loch Ness Marathon. It is my first Marathon and I am absolutely terrified. I have trained really hard throughout the year so hopefully I will be able to drag my ageing body round the 26.2 miles.

I'm hoping to raise money for Yorkhill Children's Foundation which is an extremely worthwhile cause. Since I took part in my first organised running event I have raised about £2,000 for Yorkhill. This is the last time I will ask anyone to sponsor me because I have no intention of running so far ever again.

For every pound I raise, Network Rail will put a similar amount into their Central Charity fund which is allocated at the end of the year to a number of charities supported by the company.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Yorkhill Children's Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me.

Many thanks for your support.

Alan
