Story
I am running the Stafford Half Marathon for the 3rd year in a row on Sunday 20th March. Training is going well so far, and I am aiming for a new personal best of less than 1hr 47mins.
Previous years I have run just for myself, but this year I have created a sponsorship page to help a charity.
The charity I have chosen is Mind... the charity that supports those with mental health challenges.
The reason why? Well because I think problems with your mind and your own thoughts can affect pretty much anyone regardless of how fit and healthy you think you may be or how you chose to lead your life today are have in the past. When people do have challenges, not only does it affect them but it affects their loved ones, friends, and family, and you see the person you have known for years still look the same but change in how they behave towards you, or how they speak to you. Extremely difficult to deal with for all involved... those suffering and also their friends/family supporting them and standing by their side.
If you have a relative of friend who has/had mental health issues, then I am sure it will be easy for you to sponsor me. If you are lucky enough to have not, then... well... still sponsor me please! :-)
Whether it is the price of a coffee/tea you donate or the price of a bottle of Champagne, it is all welcome and going to a truly worthy cause.
Thanks in advance to those that do donate... and have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Alan
