Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. Here's the deal:
Helen and Alan are trekking to Everest Base Camp in April 2009 to set a world record for the highest game of cricket ever played. We have both recently qualified as ECB Umpires.
As part of our training we ran the Berlin marathon in September 2008 and will also be running the Bath Half in March along with about 30 of our fellow trekkers.
The expedition has gone from strength to strength and we officially launched on January 27th by playing cricket in Trafalgar Square (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7853571.stm)
We also have Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook supporting us (that's England captain and vice captain) and had former internationals Mark Butcher, Chris Adams and James Kirtley at the launch.
We are raising money for a fantastic cause in the Himalayan Trust and, along with 48 others aim to raise a quarter of a million pounds.
While our own target is a mere £1500 each, we hope that with your generosity we can meet and even exceed that.
The trust is something we both firmly believe in and the final donation from the group will be the single biggest donation they have received. For information just click on their logo on the side of the page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us. The Himalayan Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now and play a small part in making this expedition all it should be!
