Story

Update:

On Thursday 18th March 2010 a Service of Thanksgiving was held in memory of Alan.

The event was a fitting tribute to a wonderful man, and it was very moving to see so many people make the effort to attend - approximately 900 guests joined us on the day!

We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of all those who knew Alan and have donated in his memory - thank you so much for helping us to raise such a fantastic amount of money for a truly worthy cause.

Kind regards

Fay, Graham and Richard Cherry

It is with the deepest regret that we announce the death of Alan Cherry. Alan passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning (23rd January), at the age of 76, after a characteristically determined battle with cancer that started when he was first taken ill last summer.

Alan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, but his many personal qualities will live on.

Alan supported many charitable organisations during his life so we ask that, in lieu of flowers, if you would like to give in his memory please do so in the form of a donation to St Francis Hospice using this page. On behalf of the Hospice, we thank you for your generosity.

In the meantime we would like to extend our thanks for all the messages of sympathy and support we have already received.
