Sadly I experienced PPROM (preterm premature rupture of membranes) last week at 24 weeks’ gestation. Thankfully I have managed to avoid going into labour and I am now a week on at 25 weeks’ gestation. It has been a scary and distressing week, made more difficult under the current COVID restrictions. The staff at Barnet and UCLH have been amazing and have looked after me brilliantly and professionally.
I have been blown away by people’s love, kindness and eagerness to help. I need no gifts: I live in pyjamas; food is supplied by the hospital, family and the wonderful Ezra Umarpeh; I have plenty of books and magazines plus an iPad and a phone to keep me occupied.
In order to try make something positive out of a difficult situation, I thought I would set up a fundraising page. When this baby is born it will need all the help it can get from the neonatal unit. And here’s hoping we can help as many other little fighter babies at the same time.
Thank you for all your love, support and prayers xx
The University College London Hospital (UCLH) neonatal fund relaunched as Early Lives on World Prematurity Day 2018. Early Lives brings together doctors, nurses, therapists and veteran parents. We support all aspects of life on the UCLH neonatal unit and key to this is building a community of supporters. Help us by staying in touch, getting involved and celebrating the work and success of the unit. We also raise funds to support the babies, families and staff in the unit. By paying for things like specialist equipment, family facilities, staff training and neonatal research, Early Lives enhances the care provided by the neonatal team and covers costs for things that are not funded through the NHS. You can support our work by making a donation or fundraising on our behalf.www.earlylives.orgwww.facebook.com/earlylives
