Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Just want to put a bit back

I am going
to run a marathon over a month this September (42.195 kilometers), this might
not seem a lot but at age 74 it is to me.

In 2019 I
was diagnosed with prostate cancer, to say this was a shock would be an understatement,
I had been having a few problems, but I put this down to my age, big mistake.

I went for
tests at St Helens hospital, they sat me down and said “look Alan you have
cancer and it’s an aggressive one “.

“How long
have I got left?” I asked. Let’s get into the treatment was the answer.

After many
tests and scans luckily, the cancer hadn’t travelled other than into the lower
part of my bladder.

I had surgery
at Whiston hospital, some more treatment at Clatterbridge on the Wirral and
then a course of radiotherapy at Aintree Hospital. After that I was put on a
course of hormone injections, which I am still having.

The
treatment I had at these hospitals was excellent I cannot praise them enough,
nothing was too much trouble, they saved my life.

From
November 2019, I have had checkups every six months and my latest PSA test
showed an undetectable level.

Many thanks
to St James with St Matthews for all the prayers they said for me, the support
of my family and my two daughters Kathryn and Helen.

Most of all
Dr Z Malik Consultant Clinical Oncologist and his team and my wife Ruth who was
with me all the way, God bless her.

Thank you
in advance for any donations you may wish to make.

Fellas,
get tested.
