Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a group of genetic disorders that affect the retina’s ability to respond to light. This inherited disease causes a gradual loss of vision, beginning with poor night vision & loss of peripheral (side) vision and often blindness results. RP affects around 1 in 4000 but is relatively unheard of as most people with RP display no visible symptoms of their condition and research isn't as widely discussed (or funded for that mattter) as other eye diseases. To date there is no known cure.
If you would like to know more about this condition and see the excellent work our chosen charity does to help fund research and support those affected then please follow the charity's link.
Both Terry and myself have exposure to RP as the condition is prevalant in our immediate family and know all to well the daily challenges our loved ones are faced with. It is hoped that, through our allbeit brief challenge, we can help towards the research that will one day provide a cure for, and ultimately help prevent, RP. And so over to you guys..
For those of you who may be interested in the ride, the route is around 170 miles and cuts through Lancashire into God's Own Yorkshire and we are allowing ourselves 3 days to finish it. More info can be found at:

Training has already started in earnest and, as it seems to be the thing to do nowawdays, we shall be keeping our supporters up-to-date with the usual facebook statuses and tweets.
Thanks in advance,
Alan & Terry
