Story

Last February 2022 our Dad was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis a condition that severally effected his breathing. His condition got worse and he needed a miracle of a lung transplant in order to survive.

In August of 2022 Dad was gifted with the most special gift someone could give a lung 🫁. But unfortunately there was lots of complications with Dad's transplant and he was put on life support in the ICU unit in the Mater hospital Dublin where he spent near 5 months recovering.

Dad kept fighting every day which is a true testament of the amazing person he is. Much of dad's recovery comes down to the amazing support he received by staff in the ICU & HDU in Mater hospital. It is impossible to even put into words the amazing work that the staff at the Mater do for their patients.

With this in mind my brother Brian and I have decided to run the Dublin marathon 2023 to raise money for the mater hospital foundation and raise awareness for dads condition.  We want to thank everyone for their kind donations and for raising awareness for this much needed support.

"Your support advances care for every patient every day"
