Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am walking again for the Cancer Unit at the Royal United Hospital Bath. The official aim is to walk a Marathon distance of 26.2 miles in September. As I have been walking during lockdown, I thought 26.2 miles in a month would be easy so I have decided to walk at least a marathon each week until the end of September. To round it up I have set a target of 300 miles. I did my last walk for RUH in 2018, 15 months after major surgery and chemotherapy.I first had bowel cancer in 2009 and after surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy at RUH I was announced clear in August 2015. Then in August 2016 it was discovered that I had a different and rare cancer called pseudomyxoma peritonei or PMP for short. The treatment involved surgery and chemotherapy at Basingstoke hospital and after a scan in May 2020 I am now on 12 monthly CT scans. At present there is no evidence of further disease. Therefore I felt it was time to do the walk again to say thank you to the NHS and RUH Bath in particular.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
