Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of a very dignified friend of mine whom unfortunately lost the biggest battle of his life on Saturday 2nd of May.
I know I ask regularly for you to help me raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support, however as you keep reading you will realise this time I have even more reason to ask for your help.
Kevin and I met in hospital in August last year. We both had some health issues, however we soon forgot bout them as we got chatting as men do about one of the important things in life.... football. Didn't take long though as Kevin supported Sunderland and they weren't doing to well at the time and as most of you know i support the Rangers!! Enough said!!
It was when we started chatting about our loving partners Julie & Kirstin and our kids - Cory, Brad, Lee, Adam, Jack, Ewan, Mitchell, Zara & Oscar. That's when we both realised we had so much in common and so much to look forward to with our families in the future!!
I was fortunate, I left the hospital without my Gallbladder! Kevin, Julie & there family had to deal with the devastating, life changing news that Kevin had cancer and it didn't look like there would be a good outcome! Kevin faced this battle full on & was determined to beat it!! To keep himself focused Kevin set himself some goals... One of which was to marry Julie, which they did on the 25th of April. He hoped to attend the presentation of prizes for the Newton Aycliffe AFC team that Kevin was the Manager of and had worked with most of the boys for many years. The boys had a minutes silence and wore black armbands as a mark of respect for Kevin at there last league match on Sunday 3rd of May.
I was fortunate enough to achieve a goal of my own a couple of weeks ago when I managed to put my own ill health behind me and ran a 10k with my oldest son Ewan. That was something that i never thought would be possible.
Kevin was so delighted for me and after I sent him our picture he told me he wanted to come & see me cross the finishing line of the Edinburgh Marathon. Sadly he can't be there in person but I know he will not only be looking over the finishing line, he will be running every mile of the Marathon with me!!
Were all gonna miss ya mate, personally I would like to thank you for the motivation, inspiration and belief you have given me!! #keptfighting #family #dignified #respect
I'm sure everyone that reads this has been or knows someone that has been affected by this heinous disease. Can I ask for your support please, anything even £1 helps MacMillan Cancer Support!
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, hopefully you will also be kind enough to make a donation.
