Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most of you will know of my love for cricket, and my involvement with coaching children over the past 10 years or so. The children here are fairly privileged compared to many abroad, and following an interview at the Oval earlier this year I have been selected to join the Cricket Without Boundaries team of 6 to go to Uganda in October 2011 for 2 weeks to teach cricket to children in local schools.
This will be outside my "comfort zone", with conditions rather less luxurious than those I try to hope for in England. Schools are outside of the Capital City, with roads and accomodation less than comfortable.
The aims of the charity are to:
Teach cricket at its basic level
Teach teachers and coaches to be able to continue the game after we have left.
Conduct an AIDS awareness programme.
AIDS is an enormous problem in the area, and part of the requirements is a 2 day course in the UK on the AIDS programme, in order to link it to the cricket work we shall be doing.
I shall be paying for my own flights, subsistence, travel in the UK, visas etc and you may rest assured that your "hard earned" will not go into my pocket!
Any money donated will be used by the charity to pay mainly for equipment which will largely be left by us in Uganda, For example,
£5 will pay for a hard ball.
£10 will buy gloves
£25 will buy a complete set of kwik cricket equipment
