Story
As most of you are aware I was diagnosed with
Epilepsy about 5 years ago and as such Epilepsy Action is a charity close to my heart.
During February, Epilepsy Action have got a
number of fund- raising activities going on and I have (foolishly) signed up to
raise £500 by way of walking 50 miles during the month. I am hoping that you
will help me by sponsoring me to achieve this target Whether you donate £5 or
£500 - Every little bit helps.
My reasons for undertaking this challenge
are two-fold – firstly to help the Epilepsy Action charity and secondly to improve
my fitness by reducing the level of breathlessness that I suffer from through
COPD,
I have decided to do this, for Epilepsy
Action and give a little something back for all the support I have received and
for the information that they have given me to try to live the best life
possible and live with Epilepsy.
With regard to the second reason – until about
18 months ago I was going out walking with a group of friends on a regular
basis – nothing too strenuous but approx. 5 miles per week with a pub lunch at
the end of the walk. However, the COPD
flared up and left me unable to complete the walks due to the high levels of
breathlessness. I would like to start going
out with the group again and see the 50-mile challenge as a way of building up
stamina and reducing levels of breathlessness.
I will be doing the 50 miles over the whole
of the month of February – some walks will be short i.e., a couple of miles but
some walks will be about 5 miles in length.
All walks will be logged using Strava which will link into my ‘Just giving’
page and it is expected that this information will show the walk and the mileage
covered.
So don’t forget if you want to sponsor me
click on the Just Giving link at the top of the page.
So come on mates, we can do this!
Many thanks
