The Challenge 
The walk will be over a marathon in length and will be from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. It will probably take me about 11 hours, depending on weather conditions. I will call in at Hampton Court Palace on the way, my office location when I ran Historic Royal Palaces. The reason for the starting point is because the walk takes place in the Platinum Jubilee year, and will also be in tribute to Prince Philip and the pivotal role he played in laying the foundations for the formation of the Trust. Of course, the reason for the end point is that Windsor Castle is where Windsor Leadership’s programmes are held in St George’s House, the venue for the original Windsor Meetings set up by Prince Philip. 

The Bursary Fund 
I have been involved with the Trust for 20 years this year. It has been clear to me throughout this period that leadership is the most important of the four success determinants for the third sector-the other three being strategy, people and capital. Furthermore after COVID, leadership development could not be more urgent. In today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment, the third sector needs leadership skills and organisational capabilities different from those that helped them succeed in the past.
