Hi, I’m Alan Lock. I’m 39 and I served with the Royal Navy until I lost much of my sight due to a rare genetic disorder which brought my career to an early finish. Despite this, I have strived to continue with my passion for sport, and running in particular. When I competed in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon, Colin stepped in as a stand-in guide. Since then we've become good friends and decided to throw our weight behind a London 2019 campaign on behalf of the charity Blind Veterans UK. Colin's a great runner, and so far has done a terrific job ensuring I don't inadvertently run into the River Severn during our training runs!
A note from Colin.
Alan has run 19 marathons and London 2019 will be his 10th London Marathon. He is motivated, focused and determined and chooses to turn any negatives into positives. He is one of the nicest and most genuine guys I’ve ever met and I am truly inspired by Alan and his tremendous achievements. I’m very excited to be running with Alan in London 2019. This is my 3rd London Marathon, and having spent 6 years working for our armed forces at RAF Shawbury, It is an honour to support such an excellent charity that does fantastic and essential work for Blind Veterans UK. 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
