Story
After Alan sadly passed away on 26th April the family decided there could be no more fitting way to pay tribute to him and his life than donations to his favourite charity, the RSPB. To all who feel they are able to donate, we are grateful for your generosity and know that Alan would very much appreciate your gesture as well.
Alan had a deep love of all wildlife but birds were his primary passion and he was a long-time supporter of the RSPB, often participating in their annual garden surveys. He would often venture out early in the mornings "over the fields" or down to the seafront with his binoculars to see what he could find, along with trips to Pagham harbour or Pulborough Brooks - our local reserves.
No holiday was complete without a countryside walk to see what the local habitats had to offer, something the whole family was able to enjoy.
Often it was the garden at home which brought equal pleasure and he was equally happy watching regular visitors as the occasional rarities which paid us a visit. (Except for that one time he found a heron eyeing up the inhabitants of his pond!).
In the last few years, as illness tightened its despicable grip, he was of course more limited but was still able to enjoy watching the finches and sparrows in the garden.
Thank you.
