Story

Sadly, my Mum passed away at home suddenly on Monday 11 September 2017. She was just 58 years old and my absolute Hero.

My Mum was a truly inspiring, funny and amazing woman who alone successfully raised what I believe to be three decent, hard working citizens of this world. Though we all suffered many disappointments growing up, my Mum had the ability to endure any setback and was always honest with me and my sisters about life. All that we have achieved is testament to her including each of us being blessed with our own relationships and families. She was a fantastic Nannie to her grand children sharing so much love and they believed every word she said.

My mum was also a fiercely loyal and respectful friend to so many and she would never miss an opportunity to spare her time or humour with anyone in need. She had such a big heart and was always ready to help in whatever way she could.

In 2009, my Mum was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration (Stargardt) when she was only 50 years old. As her sight worsened she regularly sought support from the RNIB for advice on things like reading, visual aides and community group outings etc. She always spoke of her appreciation of the time & practical advice offered.

Her determination to not give in to this terrible and debilitating eye condition ensured my Mum lived her life through sharing special moments with her family and maintaining social status with her ever expanding network of Facebook friends! She also enjoyed trips to the theatre, watching strictly come dancing and just about everything in between.

Her passing leaves a huge void of bright energy in this world for so many people but as a family we take great comfort from the messages of condolences and shared memories remembering the lovely, nurturing and graceful person that she was.

All donations are gratefully received in honour of her memory to help the RNIB in supporting others who are visually impaired.

Rest In Peace Mum. xxx
