Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
At Ashington, we have a nominated charity (which changes annually) to whom we donate all of the money we raise during charity events and other fundraising activities.
In 2016, that charity is the Children's Heart Unit Fund. Please see below the reason behind this decision.
"My son Tyler has a complex, uncorrectable heart condition which is known as 'Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome' which affects the right side of his heart. This is the most serious and complex form of heart defects and people with this condition have a short life expectancy and not many people live to their twenties.Tyler has had four heart operations since he was born, the first one when he was only five days old. He had his final operation at the age of five when they discovered that they will not be able to correct his heart. My son will need a heart transplant in the future which is very hard for me and my wife to understand when he is so perfect in every other way. Even though Tyler is only nine, I look up to him as he has been so brave even though he is so young. If it wasn't for the Freeman Hospital, Tyler would have died within a few days. They have given him the opportunity to live the life he has had as well as helping many more children and families like ours."
