This October a team from Aksia Europe will take part in a socially distant relay challenge to raise money for our charity partner, UP-Unlocking Potential: a London-based charity with a mission to transform the life chances of children and young people who are aged 4-25 and have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The Aksia team will aim to complete a 50 mile lap of London in the fastest time possible, covering a route that links together Unlocking Potential’s services across the city.

Sponsorship proceeds from the challenge will be directed towards Unlocking Potential’s Schools Programme. This is a school-based mental health service offering therapeutic interventions and wellbeing activities to primary age children with SEMH needs in 10 schools across London. Unlocking Potential helps them make the most of their time at school, avoid exclusions, and improve their outcomes at school and in life.

When schools were closed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Unlocking Potential quickly adapted the programme to stay in touch with the vulnerable families they support. As children return to schools this term, and the service resumes as much as possible, their work has an even more important role to play.
