Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After climbling Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2011 and raising nearly £8000 as a group for various charities, including St Lukes Hospice, I decided to push my limits even further and signed up to run a marathon. This will be the ultimate challenge since I couldn't even manage to run to the end of my street!
The Virgin London Marathon is on 22 April 2012 I'm running on behalf of St Lukes Hospice in Harrow (for more information visit them here http://www.stlukes-hospice.org/)
Your support means alot to me as I'm running in memory of my friend Bobby who was cared for by a hospice in the last stages of his life in Swindon. St Lukes Hospice arranges care for people whose illnesses are no longer curable, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life during the final stages of their illness. They care for patients through an in-patient unit, out-patient clinics, and day care unit, as well as in their own homes through the Hospice at Home and Community Palliative Care Teams.
All of their services are free of charge.
Your money will go a long way to help the Hospice and it's patients:
£60 could pay for a home visit from one of our nurses, doctors or social workers, enabling a patient to access high quality care in the comfort of their own home.
£40 could help relieve symptoms including pain, breathlessness, nausea and anxiety by paying for the cost of a complementary therapy session.
£30 could help someone cope with the loss of a loved one through a bereavement counselling session
