Story
Hi I am Aisling and on the 28th April 2019 I will be running the London Marathon for Beat. Beat is the UKs eating disorder charity that aims to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. Over 1.25 million people in the UK suffer from eating disorders and it has one of the highest mortality rates for psychiatric illnesses. Beat provides helplines, support groups and professional care for those who suffer with eating disorders. In addition to this a key objective of Beat is to get those suffering from eating disorders the treatment they need as early as possible. This substantially increases the chances that sufferers reach a full recovery.
Eight years ago I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa and this was the most difficult period in my life both physically and mentally.
During this time I never thought I would be able to make a full recovery. Without the support from my family, friends, the NHS and Beat I believe that my recovery would not have been as successful as it was. I have chosen to raise money specifically for this charity because I am someone who has been fortunate enough to have recovered from an eating disorder. Following my full recovery, I now want the opportunity to give back to an organisation that works extremely hard to support people affected by eating disorders and to show people that with the right support eating disorders can be beaten!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your support.
