We are a team of twenty five doctors, nurses, radiographers, administrators and domestics from the Interventional Radiology team at Aintree University Hospital. On 8th September 2018 we will climb Snowdon, the third highest mountain in the UK, in aid of the HELP Appeal – the only charity in the country dedicated to funding hospital helipads.
Interventional Radiology is part of the x-ray department. They use x-rays and scans to perform image guided surgery. These types of surgery are done without large incisions, and often just with local anaesthetics rather than general anaesthetics. This means that patients can recover more quickly than with a standard type of operation and leave hospital sooner. They help many types of patients, especially trauma patients.
