Story
Following the news that a valued friend and former colleague had
been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer, it was shocking to discover how many family members, friends and other people we knew had been affected by this disease. To our astonishment we discovered that Bowel Cancer is the second biggest killing cancer in the UK, although it’s not a cancer many people talk about for obvious reasons, which is something we want to change.
Given the fact that we all know so many people affected we felt
compelled to do some fund raising for Bowel Cancer UK. We started discussing our options; a sponsored walk, cake sales and many other more off beat ideas.
By co-incidence, “Crazy Mick Dunn” the organiser of many previous
challenges and fundraisers approached us to see if we would be interested in doing a Snowdon Climb for charity. The timing couldn’t have been better and one thing led to another which resulted in us deciding to combine both; a challenging climb up The Pyg Track of Snowdon whilst raising crucial funds for Bowel Cancer UK.
So here we are a few months later, doing various walks in preparation for the climb in May as well as organising other fundraising events, such as cake and book sales.
We are really happy to report our friend is doing well, the early diagnosis meant his treatment was effective, which is brilliant news. This has been a huge incentive for to us to collect money and raise awareness of this horrible disease, by us supporting Bowel Cancer UK they can continue their great work, giving help to those at risk and affected by bowel cancer.
So you too can support us; by eating a cake or two and contributing towards our Just Giving page, at the same time please keep an eye
peeled and wish us well if you see us training.
