Dove House Hospice provides specialist care in Hull and East Yorkshire to adults with life limiting illnesses. With the patient and their family at the centre of the hospice's care, a range of services are provided to ensure each patient gets the right support and care they need.

Story

This September, I will be taking on the challenge of trekking 26 miles, the equivalent of a marathon, of the Southwest Coast Path between Padstow & Porthcothan. I want to raise money for Dove House Hospice who cared for my Grandad 11 years ago & now my Grandma who passed on Mother’s Day.

Those of you that know me, know that my grandparents were my absolute world & both battled cancer until the very end. Dove House ensured that the end of their lives were comfortable & they were cared for incredibly well. With beautiful gardens filled with water features, flowers & wildlife, it is the most peaceful place for the final moments of life.

The volunteers at Dove House are absolutely incredible. They are always there to help with anything, even if it is just sitting & keeping someone company, day or night.

For the next few months leading up to September, I will be training for this challenge to make sure I do my charity proud. I am starting completely from scratch from no exercising, to walking the equivalent of a marathon. How hard can it be, right?!
