Story
I’m really excited to say that I will be running the London Marathon for the MS Trust in April. The MS Trust are an incredible charity who have been so supportive and helpful to my amazing mum.
In 2017, my mum suddenly began experiencing problems with her vision. After almost a year of visiting numerous doctors and specialists, she was eventually diagnosed with relapsing remitting Multiple Sclerosis in April 2018. Multiple Sclerosis is a lifelong autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, and symptoms can manifest themselves differently in everyone who has it. It has been over four years since my mum was diagnosed and I have watched her deal with everything with inspiring positivity and strength. However, the cause of MS remains unknown, and unfortunately so does the cure.
Since it can present itself so differently in each individual case, MS can be incredibly frightening to those who are diagnosed, and there is often little information or support given to them. The MS Trust work to provide support, information, and funds for specialist healthcare professionals, such as MS nurses. Currently, there are around 103,688 people with MS living in areas where there are not enough MS nurses to look after everyone. My mum has been fortunate enough to have access to an MS nurse, and words cannot describe how invaluable their constant support and guidance has been for her, so helping to provide funding for more MS nurses so others can receive the same level of support is incredibly important.
As we all know, I am most certainly not a runner, but my family and many many others owe a great deal to the amazing support they have received from the MS Trust, so any donation towards them would mean the world to me! Thank you :)
