Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm raising money for a little boy called Daniel. When Daniel's Mum told me about the opportunity for him to potentially have a very expensive life changing operation, I said I would run a marathon to raise money (wine was involved). When this potential opportunity became a reality, I realised there was no way I could not go through with it, after all it is such a good cause and I know how much of a difference this may make to his life.
Daniel has Cerebral Palsy. Although there is no cure, a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) may help. SDR followed by intensive therapy could give Daniel far better mobility, and greatly increase his independence, as well as making him generally more comfortable and reducing the need for orthopaedic surgery in the future.
Through his parents tireless fund raising, the money has now been raised for Daniel to have his operation, however, that is just the start. He will require intensive ongoing physiotherapy probably for the rest of his life to make the most of his chance. So you may say this is his own marathon (cheesy!).
More information on Daniel and his story can be found on his website at http://www.onebigstepfordaniel.co.uk/
This a massive personal challenge for me. I know however, all money raised will go to help this wonderful little boy and if I can contribute even a small amount it makes every cold rainy mile, and inability to walk upstairs properly worth it. On the note of training I would like to say a special thank you to personal trainer Rhys Davies who is donating any money I would have paid him directly to the charity, which is incredibly generous.
Any donation however big or small will all contribute towards hopefully making Daniel's life that little bit easier. The money is raised through Tree of Hope which ensures all the money is used for his treatment and it is ringfenced just for Daniel.
THANKYOU
