Story

I DID IT! I COMPLETED THE 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE!

The Sierra Nevada National Park is Spain’s largest National Park. The mountain range is the second highest in Europe after the Alps and includes 15 peaks higher than 3,000 m!

On the 16th June 2011, I set off to Spain to cross the Sierra Nevada at its 3 highest points, climbing to the peak of the 3 highest mountains on mainland Spain in just 3 days! - Alcazaba, Veleta and Mulhacen!

I put myself through this strenuous ordeal in order to fundraise for Julia's House, a hospice dedicated to children with life-limiting illnesses.

The majority of the children they care for are unlikely to live beyond the age of 18.

The Julia's House Community Team, which consists of 80 Nurses and Carers who travel the county, and the Children's Hospice provides life-changing support for families both in their own homes and in the hospice itself.

Julia's House receives only 3% of their funding from the Government, and relies on fundraising to help raise the remainder of their required income. In 2011, they estimate that it will cost nearly £2.8m to continue to provide their vital services…

…Which is where you come in!

Every £1 of sponsorship raised will enable Julia’s house to:

Open the hospice for 24-hour care at weekends. This will give families a real break from the pressures of caring for a seriously ill child.

Increase the hours of care they provide in the children's own homes

Provide more complementary and music therapy services

Run more social events for the children's mums, dads, brothers and sisters, to relieve the pressure of their daily lives
