Story
Alzheimer’s is a horrible disease, it takes away what is arguably the most important human attribute, memory. Imagine how scary and frustrating it must be to slowly but surely lose the ability to remember every part of your life, the big days, the sad days, the special days, your family, everything. This is what happened to my grandad. Sadly, he passed away 12 years ago having lived with Alzheimer’s for 10 years. We need to find a treatment to beat this disease.
Grandad was a legend, very loving and caring, and left me with so many amazing memories which he wasn’t fortunate enough to remember himself. The picture above is from a family holiday to Italy shortly after his diagnosis.
I was hoping to complete the London Classics in 2020 however the pandemic meant everything was cancelled or postponed. However, I was lucky enough to get into the marathon for this year so after 2 years (almost to the day) from starting to run, I will be finishing the marathon on The Mall. If I cant run a marathon after 2 years of training, I wont ever be able to!
Thank you very much for looking at my just giving page, and hopefully sponsoring me. I know each donation and message will help me though my training and support the research and support which the Alzheimer’s society delivers.
The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
