Story

I'm running the Great Manchester Run for #TeamStroke!

This is in memory of my dad who we sadly lost to a stroke a few months ago. I really want to push my self and achieve the half marathon as running has never been one of my strong points and I want to raise as much money as I can so more research can be done in regards to stroke and what we can do to prevent and cure strokes as unfortunately for my dad it happened so quickly and there was no signs or indications that he was going to suffer a stroke.

I believe more needs to be done to stop people dying from strokes as I think my dad should still be here today but was not taken seriously enough by the ambulance service or hospital as strokes are serious medical emergencies but he was failed by them.

The only thing I strive to do from now on is raise more awareness in regards to stroke so people know how to identify strokes quickly and act fast. I’m excited but nervous to do this run but the thought of my dad will keep me going, I know he will be waiting for me at the finishing line.

This is for you Dad, love and miss you lots x
