Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
I work as part of the Critical Care therapy team at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. I have the privilege of working with patients during their intensive care stay and helping them to begin their rehabilitation journey during these difficult times. I love my job and thoroughly enjoy turning up to work everyday, despite the arduous circumstances. I have the utmost respect for the hard work and incredible effort these people put into their therapy in order to get out of the hospital and continue as normal a life as possible.
However there is more I can do for my patients than simply get on with my job! And so in order to improve on the work we do every day, I would like to fundraise for the Royal Free Charity, who facilitate and support our patients in every step of their hospital journey to make their experience the best it can be. From things as simple as a radio to keep them occupied, to rehabilitation equipment that allows them to leave the ICU for the first time in months, each patients needs are individual. I want to raise money for my patients to make this life changing experience as positive a period of their lives as it can be.
For those of you who know me, I will confess to have 'never been a runner'. However with a bit of determination and hard work, inspired by my patients, I will take on the challenge of the London Marathon 2019 and hopefully do you all proud. Although a small charity, I hope you can see why this means so much to me. Any donation is gratefully received and will contribute to improving someones hospital stay.
Please come on down to support us on April 28th in Central London, I'll be wearing a purple top with white lettering, and would love to hear you cheering. For anyone who has never been before, I have always enjoyed the atmosphere from your side of the barrier! I will be looking out for you to keep me going, and I have booked an area in a pub afterwards so that I can thank you all in person for your support.
Wish me luck!
