Story

To my lovely Family and Friends,

I'd be so grateful if you would give me your support again for MY 5TH CONSECUTIVE GREAT NORTH RUN.

TEAM SMITH have been on a RUNNING for RITA challenge - 3 half marathons this year - Aileen in Edinburgh in May, Aileen and Graham in Reykjavik Midnight Sun Run (with Carol, George and Chris as support team) in June and Aileen and Graham in the Great North Run on 15 September.

I've delayed putting this JUST GIVING page online as I've been nursing an injury after Reykjavik, however after hours of physio and stretching I am declaring myself race fit. I'm so pleased as I really didn't want to miss my no 5 GNR.

Four years ago Rita and George waved me off on my maiden half marathon and it's a special memory for me as just a few weeks later we lost our lovely Rita. So running in the GNR is very important to me and I know Mum would be very proud of TEAM SMITH - of our personal running achievements and how much money we've raised for the Stroke Association and also for Diabetes UK (Graham runs for  them). We all know someone who has been affected by these conditions. These charities do  fabulous research and give amazing support to patients and their families.

Every small donation makes a difference and a cheeky or inspirational message will get me to the finish line.

Lots of Love Aileen xx
