Story

Just as the world was opening up in March 2021, I noticed Joseph had a small petechial rash. My incredibly fit and active boy was then admitted to the amazing care of the Schiehallion ward. After many many investigations and trips to theatre for bone marrow biopsies, he received his diagnosis, Severe Aplastic Anaemia. Transfusions given every 6 days and an unsuccessful treatment in summer 2021 and still  isolating from the world, in March 2022 we got the good news there was a 9/10 bone marrow donor. Readmitted the day after his 9th birthday, he had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. There have been many hurdles but he is now 9 months post transplant. There is  still a way to go but he is ‘getting his life back’ seeing his fantastic friends and returning to school. We are doing the Kiltwalk for the Schiehallion ward and the amazing theatre team. The care and love from everyone has been truly incredible.
