Story
We will be walking over 25 miles on Sunday 31st January to raise money for the Mercy Corps Haiti Earthquake Fund.
Mercy Corps is an international humanitarian charity working across the world in communities experiencing disaster, conflict or economic collapse to support community-led positive change. In Haiti, they have deployed an experienced emergency team to rush critical supplies and other urgent assistance to survivors. You can read more at www.mercycorps.org.uk/haiti.
Last year, we organised a similar event for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. All York University political and religious societies got involved, along with some YUSU Committees, two local MPs and the University Vice-Chancellor, and we raised over £2500. We hope to get these groups and individuals involved again, and with your help, to raise a similar amount of money.
So please donate, and come on the walk! There will be a pub-stop half way though, and it will be a good day out. Go to our Facebook group - Humanitarian Aid for Haiti (York) - to find out more.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
