Story
50,000 Irishmen died in World War 1 fighting for Britain. Political upheaval at the time resulted in the Irish Civil War where more Irish men and women perished well before their time.
I'm cycling for Cooperation Ireland and to commemorate both events. Its a 450k cycle ride which will start in Belfast, stop in Dublin and end on the battle fields of the Somme.
I hope you will think about supporting me.
"So here, while the mad guns curse overhead,
And tired men sigh with mud for couch and floor,
Know that we fools, now with the foolish dead,
Died not for flag, nor King, nor Emperor,
But for a dream, born in a herdsman's shed,
And for the secret Scripture of the poor."
