Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having run the Great South Run in October 2009 I thought to myself, why make the pain stop there. Lets keep pushing on until I have done a marathon as well! So now I am taking on the Edinburgh Marathon on 23rd May 2010.
Since January I have been out in the -5 conditions all the way up to recent weeks where its finally been getting above 14 degrees. I have been doing 6 - 8 mile runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and longer (10 - 20 mile) runs on Saturday mornings. Getting up at 7:30 on a Saturday morning when its pissing with rain outside and the trees are bending over with the wind is no easy task but in an effort to make running this marathon possible I have done it.
I am praying that my old home town of Edinburgh will provide us with some favourable weather on the day but having lived there for so many years I should probably still pack my snowboarding jacket!
I am going to run this Marathon to raise money form MacMillan Cancer Support. They are a great charity providing immediate help to people who have cancer. 99% of their services are funded entirely through the generosity of the supporters so every penny that could be spared would help.
If 100 people could spare 10p per mile I am going to run then I would have collected £260 which would be a great amount already. Every penny helps and will give me that extra kick up the butt when my legs start to give way at the 22 mile marker.
