We support bereaved children and families to help rebuild their lives

Story

When I took part in the Great Swim at Salford Quays in May it was for me and about achieving one of the goals I had set myself for 2011.

My inspiration for taking part was Grant Magowan, the father of my Great Nephew William Magowan ,who in 2009 at the age of 12, died unexpectedly.

Dealing with death in any family unit is difficult, especially the inevitable grief that accompanies it.

As a parent I can’t even imagine the impact of the death of a child.

Last weekend I took part in the Great North Swim as my way of remembering William and supporting a worthy charity that does a fantastic job.

The support I received from you all and your kind donations has inspired me to continue to fundraise for the charity.

So I am heading to the South Lakes for the next challenge and the next 1 mile open water swim.

This is on 16 July 2011 at the Capernwray Dive Centre, just minutes from Junction 35 on the M6.
