The reason: I’ve always loved being outdoors and being active, and when I did my first mountain climb (Mount Kenya in Africa) over 10 years ago I was hooked. Then this opportunity presented itself and I knew I had to take it. This is a little closer to home, far smaller, but equally as appealing…just like me really! I see this as a chance to do something I’ve always wanted to do and challenge myself all whilst raising money for a very special charity who are dedicated to protecting our beautiful planet - something I feel passionate about.

The cause: Tropical deforestation accounts for up to 15% of net global carbon emissions - thats about the same as the emissions from the entire global transportation sector. Therefore, protecting rainforests is probably the most effective way to fight climate change whilst preserving biodiversity. The simplest and most cost-effective solution to prevent deforestation is to create legally-recognised protected areas so that is what Rainforest Trust does.Rainforest Trust UK aims to protect threatened tropical forests and endangered wildlife worldwide by partnering with local and community organisations in and around vulnerable areas.
