Story
Following Avon Fire & Rescue Service Charity Teams successful 103 Mile Cotswold Way Challenge in 2017, where 8 Operational Firefighters from Avon Fire & Rescue walked 103 miles continuously for 56 hours, we figured it was about time we do it all again!
This time we are embarking on our toughest challenge to date! The same 8 Firefighters will be Walking 150 Miles over 60 hours with no sleep.
The aim is to walk to all 21 Fire Stations within Avon Fire & Rescue Service area, our Service Headquarters in Portishead and Service Control Room; thereby visiting as many of our communities as we can along the way.
We will be walking in Full Firefighting Kit; thats tunics, leggings, helmets and to really add to the difficulty, Breathing Apparatus Sets on our backs.
The last challenge was seriously hard and took everything we had, this really is another level again.
We're doing this to raise money for BBC Children In Need, please if you are inspired by what we are doing Donate to us directly and/or get fundraising yourself!
You can also keep an eye on facebook.com/afrscharityteam facebook page, where we will be posting the times you can expect us to be in your community; we'd love the support as it would really pick us up when times get tough!
(We will be taking photos, videos for our facebook page and BBC Bristol hope to catch up with us at various stages so get your best Fire Service fancy dress out for the cameras if your feeling fun!)
