In wet cold February, Al suggested (while sober) that we do the Africa Rally this year. It's like the Mongol Rally; find a small crap car and drive it a large distance over terrain unsuitable for such a vehicle, to somewhere interesting.
 
The Africa Rally starts in London on the 13th December and ends up a few weeks later, depending on breakdowns and border guards, in Cameroon. We think it'll be between 6 and 7000 miles but we'll tell you when we get there. We've got ourselves a seventeen year old Renault Clio for £310 pounds, which hopefully should get us there.
 
We're raising money for two great charities:
 
1) Ape Action Africa works on the front-lines of great ape protection. Our goals are to address the immediate threats faced by gorillas and chimpanzees in Africa, and to work with local communities to develop long-term solutions that protect them well into the future – ensuring their survival.
 
2) Send a cow (this page): Your donation will mean some of the poorest families in Africa will receive training in sustainable farming and resources such as livestock, seeds and trees.
